Okay, everyone. As we race into the Christmas / Summer period, let's have a bit of fun.

Who likes a quiz? Here are 10 questions for you....(answers at the end):

  1. What's the best use of your BD time in Nov, Dec and Jan and should your BD activity change month-to-month?

  2. What is your priority BD goal this side of Christmas? Close a deal? Make a new contact? Finish a piece of work with a flourish that excites your client?

  3. How many BD meetings have you scheduled that don't involve a Christmas party?

  4. What are the top three things that your top three clients need to accomplish before Christmas?

  5. What BD are you doing NOW to fill the revenue/workflow gap that might be appearing in January?

  6. Have you booked a time to review your 2020 calendar year BD plans with your BD support professional?

  7. What will you change/add/omit from your 2020 BD plan that was part of your plan this year?

  8. Who in your network are you planning to re-engage with this Christmas using the festive season as the prompt?

  9. Have you set aside time leading into the holidays to reflect on the lessons learned from the MOST INTERESTING THINGS you've done this year that would provide content for a BD meeting in 2020?

  10. OK, so more of a checklist than a quiz! Sorry. If you've read this far, I hope I've got you thinking. If you're a BD professional, perhaps you can use this with your team. If you are a lawyer, accountant, architect, engineer, etc., perhaps you can use it with your BD professional.

[I will give you an answer to Q1, though: Yes - your BD activities need to change month to month. November is a time for checking with your best clients if they are covered for support before Christmas, December is a time for NOT doing BD, but for thanking your best clients for their patronage this year, and January is a time for forward-thinking conversations with clients about their 2020 plans, goals, ambitions and concerns.]
